new book by Dr Fong
profits donated to the Grace clinic
a local free-clinic

This book is an audacious look into the world of medical education and into a doctor’s odyssey, a mad roller-coaster ride of disparate experiences that are insanely brutal and wildly bizarre, absurdly funny and movingly poignant. The “why’s and how’s” of medical education are sharply brought to light by one who has survived this journey, struggling through adversity in many forms—soul-crushing humiliation, financial hardship, frightening racism and caring for patients in dire circumstances—but heavily blended with life-changing and mind-blowing experiences. At its heart, this whimsical book inspires others to chase a dream, by showing how a 12-year-old boy--a painfully shy and weak kid from humble beginnings, with neither in-born talent nor privileged upbringing--realized his dream and became a doctor.

randall S. Fong, M.D.

Dr. Fong is an otolaryngologist physician in an office-based practice, for the nonsurgical treatment of numerous problems of the ear, nose and throat, and soft tissues of the neck. Office procedures and minor surgery are also offered. However, he no longer performs surgery in the operating room nor caring for patients in the hospital setting.

He also serves as a Clinical Instructor of the University of Washington School of Medicine, as a Clinical Faculty Member for the Trios Health Graduate Medical Education (residency program), and as Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor for the Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences
